Maybe Means Yes

Somebody help me; I'm sinking in
To all my mistakes and all my sin
Somebody catch me; I'm falling away
It's all I can do to get through the day
Lay me down
Fill me up
Pour me out
Drink me up
Somebody tell me I"m not alone
Somebody help me to feel at home
Somebody find me; I'm feeling misplaced
Somebody show me a friendly face
Lay me down
Fill me up
Pour me out
Drink me up
Somebody touch me; I'm feeling locked in
Somebody give me a place to begin
Somebody bring me in from the cold
Somebody give me a hand to hold
Lay me down
Fill me up
Pour me out
Drink me up

Quatrains

Learning curves, doing lines
Shoot it up, fall behind
Fall in love, fall from grace
Fallen leaves, hidden place
Yours forever, yours today
Take it all, leave a taste
Taste the life, live the lie
Earth on heaven, never die
Eat the apple
Drink the worm
Screaming pleasure
Boiling burn
Dreaming dances
Dancing fire
Flaming flicker
Golden spire
Silver lining, golden rule
Ruling class, skipping school
Back to work, eyes ahead
Stay in line, stay in bed
Watch your sister, comb your hair
Love your neighbor, kill your cares
Carry water, lift a load
Break the chains, turn lead to gold
Eat the apple
Drink the worm
Screaming pleasure
Boiling burn
Dreaming dances
Dancing fire
Flaming flicker
Golden spire

The Hardest Thing
03:00
|
|||
Another long day, another Monday
Another feeling wrong day
Another late night, after midnight
Still trying to get your head right
Another cold shower in a dark hour
Another night in a lonely tower
Another slow creep, another time thief
Another chance to turn a new leaf
Another daybreak, another late wake
Another slowly fading headache
Another hand cramp, another off ramp
Another day at the labor camp
Another bad dream, another sad scene
Another restless state of mourning
Another lifetime, another big find
Another day digging in the fool’s gold mine
Another big waste, another disgrace
Another roadblock to slow your pace
Another long line, another step behind
Another burden to steal your time
Another hard sell, another empty well
A truth to hide and a lie to tell
Another sharp bend, another dead end
A fake smile for a pretend friend
Another rough road, another tight hold
Another journey with a heavy load
Another long ride, another bad vibe
Another sign says 'Watch for landslide'
Another tight space, another mean face
Another rock and hard place
Another bad time, another hard line
Another day digging in the fool’s gold mine

Home Again
05:12
|
|||
I'm home again
after many miles of traveling
home again
& my feet are sore & aching
& I've been
sitting reminiscing
while the wind
whipped by my open windows
on the road
I've been dozing I've been dreaming
while we flew
down the open highway
yet again
all along the journey
making friends
I'm home again
after many days of traveling
home again
after many nights of dancing
home again
after sharing what I had the
heart to give
rediscovering a better
way to live
I traveled 1500 miles end to end
and I never made a plan
along the way
just trusted in the Gods to
keep me safe
And I was right to trust
the universe was on my side
from the moment that
I hitched a ride
This is my song of praise
for those ever fleeting days
we share until we die
This is my grand hello
to the friends I came to know
before we went away
I met a Prophet on the road
while I was traveling home
He was waiting
at the Greyhound station
He said his name was Paul
He was answering the call
He was on his way
to Floriday
That's where the Lord told him to go
He can't go back to Mexico
He said he doesn't know
the hour or the day
but in his dream he's seen
the crumbling decay
The most important thing
he had to say:
Don't be afraid

Being Human
04:21
|
|||
He was looking for the quick way out
Just couldn’t figure out the way to do it
He said 'I don’t wanna live
I’m just no good at being human'
He was looking for the easy route
He was doing everything he could
He was drinking himself to death
He said 'I’m just no good at being good'
He was looking for a hand to hold
He was looking for a place to go
He was looking for a friend to know
He was putting on a show
He was looking for a dog to kick
Just found another boot to lick
Spend another 20 days in jail
But it’s easier than raising bail
And he’s not the first I’ve known
With a plan for dying slow
He ain’t the first I've seen
Who gets his jollies being mean
He was looking for another way
He was trying to shake the blame
He was looking for another trick
Afraid he’d make his mama sick
Still knotting that hangman’s noose
Letting all them demons loose
He was ready to take the fall
Waiting for the day
To end it all
And he’s not the first I’ve known
With a plan for dying slow
He ain’t the first I've seen
Who gets his jollies being mean
Saw him just the other day
Still had nothing good to say
Still counting down the days
Waiting to go away
Still lost out in the night
Still trying to get it right
Still giving up the fight
Still no good at being human
And I know what it’s like
When you can’t see the light
That’s why I’m working everyday
At being human
There’s too much joy in life
To let the darkness rule your mind
That’s why I wake up everyday
And work at being human
